Something I’ve never had a use for in the past was controlling my Mac remotely, however there are now some great iPhone apps available which allow you to use your home computer from anywhere with an internet connection using your iPhone.
I’ve installed Air Video to allow me to access all my video files, without the need for file conversion on my iPhone, the server software installed fine on my Mac and I was able to connect to my Mac over my cellular data connection without any issues.
I created a free account with DynDNS to enable me to locate my Mac over the internet, I didn’t even need to change any port settings on my Router.
I’ve also tried setting up the Remote JR app, and whilst I can view and control my Mac over my local network at home I can’t reach it over the internet despite fiddling with firewall and port forwarding, how annoying!
